HOLYOKE More than 60 years ago, Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield Alice Kenney, Loretta Scarlett and Helene Michael Nihill, all now well educated women in their 80s, took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, as members of their congregation of women religious. Sister ministered in the Diocese of Springfield at Annunciation School, Northampton, St. Mary School, Pittsfield and for most of her teaching career in Holyoke, at Sacred Heart School, St. Jerome School, Blessed Sacrament School as principal, and at Holyoke Catholic where she was Director of Performing Arts and coordinator of Community Service.
